App Editions of The Dark Knight and Inception Released

App Editions

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution announced and launched the “groundbreaking” App Editions of the feature films Inception and The Dark Knight today. These App Editions create an entirely new way to own special edition movies with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad; An alternative to purchasing or renting the films from the iTunes store — if you will. And even an alternative to purchasing the DVDs and Blu-rays.

App Editions provide a “fully-loaded, connected viewing experience” that offers the first 5 minutes of a feature film and a portion of bonus content for free. The entire film and an array of bonus content can be unlocked via an in-app purchase. The Inception and The Dark Knight App Editions are available in over 30 territories, including some which previously did not have access to films through iTunes and contain fully customized menus in 16 languages. Fans can also connect with friends by sharing their favorite movie quotes through Facebook and Twitter and watch a feed of social networking chatter directly related to the movie in real-time. Inception: App Edition and The Dark Knight: App Edition are now available on the App Store.

First Set Photo From The Dark Knight Rises?

The Dark Knight Rises Set Photo

UPDATE: We’ve gotten pretty solid confirmation that this is the same Arkham set that they used for Begins. We suspected this. I guess the only question left is: Was the person who took this hinting that it would be reused for Rises?

A photo popped up on the JoBlo forums today of what appears to be the set for Arkham Asylum in The Dark Knight Rises. The poster says, “my good mate who is working on set at cardington where it’s being shot sent me this.”  Not quite sure how legit this is, but we’re figured it’s worth a share. Perhaps it’s just a left over set from Batman Begins? Read the full story below to see the full image.

Marion Cotillard Cast in The Dark Knight Rises?

Marion Cotillard in The Dark Knight Rises

UPDATE: THR is reporting that a representative for the actress says Cotillard’s involvement in The Dark Knight Rises is currently “in discussions” and that nothing has been “confirmed” yet. Cotillard is reportedly concerned about scheduling, which would have her in London by mid-June, then L.A. and Pittsburgh for the entire summer, and New York in mid-November to wrap. Nolan has been reading with several other actresses for the part, including Kate Winslet and Rachel Weisz.

The Dark Knight Rises is shaping up to be something of an Inception reunion. With Tom Hardy as Bane and Joseph Gordon-Levitt in talks for a role, one of France’s largest newspapers, Le Figaro, is now reporting that Marion Cotillard will be joining the cast as the second female lead. Cotillard’s recent pregnancy seemingly put her out of contention, but a rough Google translation of the article (courtesy of Batman News) explains that The Dark Knight Rises will be her only project this year:

Marion Cotillard in “Batman 3”? The actress, who is expecting a child in the spring with Guillaume Canet, will be scarce this year. She’ll do a single film and her choice fell on Batman 3. This blockbuster produced by Warner Bros.. enables her to work with the director Christopher Nolan, with whom she had turned very successful sci-fi Inception. Marion Cotillard will join the filming this summer in Los Angeles. She will share the bill with Anne Hathaway.
– Le Figaro

Nolan has been searching for two female leads for his Batman finale to play a love interest and a villain. Cotillard will presumably play the love interest if we are to assume that Hathaway’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman will be the villain. But what if Selina Kyle is the love interest? Could Cotillard be Talia al Ghul? Share your thoughts in the comments.
